Going on vacation with the kids? For peace of mind, it's a good idea to pack a travel first-aid kit full of well-thought-out essentials. Here's an overview.
Anti-coronavirus pharmacy :
- Masks (for you and the kids)
- Hydroalcolic gel
- Gloves
- Paracetamol
- Soap
But above all, respect the barrier gestures at all times!
Pharmacy for minor injuries :
- Bandages
- Gauze
- Plasters (micropore)
- Scissors
- Pliers for extracting splinters
- A thermometer
- A disinfectant
- A disinfectant and healing treatment (Bepanthène Plus Crème, CHF 10.20)
- An antidiarrheal with natural substances (charcoal and yeast) (Carbolevure caps child CHF 12.50)

For insect bites:
- Skin repellents are not recommended for babies under 6 months. Choose natural versions: ApadPik Huile Bio Néobulle
- For evenings on the terrace, think of mosquito nets, unstoppable and light to carry, to protect your little babies from little bugs.
- Soothe itching, redness and burning. Practical, it also works for minor sunburns(Fenistil®Gel, CHF 12.90).
For fever:
In addition to a basic febrifuge (Panadol®, available as Panadol Junior CHF 5.10). Moisturize the child, uncover him and cool him down in a 37° bath for 15 minutes (reading him a story, for example, to keep him waiting). Re-check the temperature after the bath.
In case of shock or contusion:
- For minor injuries, run under cold water or apply a cold pack for ten minutes. An all-purpose homeopathic remedy: arnica granules 5 to 7 CH.
- Mountain destinations: Beware of blisters: take these effective little plasters with you (Compeed®, Blister mix plaster, CHF 11.50).
- For sprains: an elastic ankle bandage and an anti-inflammatory gel.
To prevent sunburn:
Sweat, rubbing with towels, sand and water dilute the layer of sunscreen, so don't hesitate to reapply a layer after each swim, on dry skin. Choose a high sun protection factor. For the very young, protect them even more by putting them in the shade and protecting them with anti-UV clothing and a hat.
The best protection is to avoid the sun at peak hours (between 11am and 4pm).
